The "Confederacy sponsored" H. L. Hunley Submarine made history on February 17, 1864, when it successfully hit and sank the union blockade ship, USS Housatonic in Charleston Harbor.

The submarine's victory at sea changed naval warfare forever. It's role and its brave crew created a profound story and effect on Charleston's residents, submariners everywhere. Let it be known!
